Maria Pisani, LPC, LCADC Maria Pisani is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Counseling from St. John’s University. She has worked in the field of Addiction and Mental Health for the past 20 years. She has counseled various populations in different settings such as withdrawal management, inpatient treatment programs, outpatient counseling programs, prisons and high schools. She has worked with both adolescents and adults providing substance use awareness, prevention and intervention services. Intervention services include individual and group counseling along with educational groups that focus on co-occurring disorders; those that are dealing with an addiction and/or anxiety, depression, and/or post-traumatic stress. Finally, Maria has also worked with individuals that were in or are in domestic violence situations. Maria practices the use of motivational enhancement consistent with a person’s specific stage of recovery in both addiction and mental health. Other practices include contingency management, relapse prevention and cognitive-behavioral techniques.
